Motorcyclist Killed In Shirley Crash: Police

He crashed into an SUV, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A motorcyclist died in a Shirley crash Saturday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at the intersection of Clyde Road and Hounslow Road at about 7:20 p.m.

Anthony Viola, 44, of Mastic, was driving a Ducati motorcycle westbound on Clyde Road when he went through a stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side door of a 2023 Kia SUV traveling southbound on Hounslow Road, police siad.

Viola was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Kia, a 38-year-old man from Shirley, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
