Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle On LI: Police
The incident took place in Shirley Sunday night, police say.
SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Shirley Sunday night, police said.
Osmin Yavani Montoya Moreno, 37, of Shirley, was crossing the roadway from west to east on William Floyd Parkway at about 10:55 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Suffolk County police said.
Montoya Moreno was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, Frederick Hammonds, 33, of Mastic Beach, remained at the scene and was not injured. No charges were filed, police said.
The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
