Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Mercedes: Cops
He was airlifted for treatment of serious injuries, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a Mercedes-Benz in Shirley Friday night, police said.
According to Suffolk County Polie, Thomas Cortijo, 42, of Mastic, was crossing the road on Brushwood Drive when he was hit by the 2000 Mercedes at 8:20 p.m.
Cortijo was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries; the driver of the Mercedes, Thomas Jerome, 38, of Shirley, was not injured, police said.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash.The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
