Registered Sex Offender In Suffolk Had Child Pornography: Police
The man's child pornography was found on an unregistered cellphone, police say.
MASTIC BEACH, NY — A registered sex offender was arrested on Thursday in connection with having child pornography, Suffolk police said.
Keith Schoelermann, 29, of Mastic Beach, a level 2 sex offender, had an unregistered cellphone with child pornography on it, police said. Suffolk County Probation officers found the phone during a routine check on Schoelermann, police said. Suffolk detectives then searched Schoelermann’s home, police said.
Schoelermann was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Computer Crimes Unit at 631-852-6572.
