The 25-foot pleasure boat washed up on the ocean side of Smith Point County Park at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, coast guard spokesman said.

SHIRLEY, NY — The United States Coast Guard continued searching Monday for the owner of an unmanned 25-foot pleasure boat that was found washed up at Smith Point County Park in Shirley on Sunday night, a spokesman said.

The boat was found on the ocean side of the beach, just west of Moriches Inlet, at about 8:30 p.m.

A combination of 11 boats and helicopters were used in the massive effort, including one fixed-wing aircraft, three helicopters, and boats from the Coast Guard, as well as five police and fire boats, Coast Guard Lt. Cory Murallo said.

"It was an exhaustive search," he said, noting that the Coast Guard was continuing to search Monday and will do so until the "search pattern" is complete.
