Shirley Man, 25, Dies In Yaphank Crash: Police
The car went airborne, hitting a telephone pole, police say.
YAPHANK, NY — A Shirley man died in a Yaphank crash Sunday evening, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at 6:34 p.m. on Yaphank Avenue. Nicholas Demaio, 25, was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla northbound on Yaphank Avenue when the
vehicle veered off the road, struck a curb and went airborne, hitting a telephone pole, police said.

Demaio was partially ejected from the vehicle; he was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
The Toyota was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to
