Shirley Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash: Cops
He was attempting to drive around a tractor-trailer that had pulled out onto the road when he crashed, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A Shirley man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Middle Island early Monday, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at 3:25 a.m. on County Road 21; Brian Ruggero, 23, was heading south on a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle at a high rate of speed when, in an attempt to go around a tractor-trailer that had pulled into the roadway, he drove along the shoulder, struck a landscaping rock at the end of the road, and hit a utility pole, police said.
Ruggero was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Suffolk County Police's seventh squad at 631-852-8752.
