Shirley Man Killed In Shooting: Police

He was shot dead in East Patchogue, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY –A Shirley man was killed in an East Patchogue shooting Monday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, homicide squad detectives are investigating the incident, which took place at 5:10 p.m. on Taylor Avenue.Fifth Precinct police officers responded to Taylor Avenue after a 911 caller reported the possible shooting; when officers arrived, they discovered Tyrell D. Smith, 25, had been shot, police said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
