Suffolk Police Cruiser Struck By Ambulance In Shirley: Cops
The cruiser was being used to divert traffic away from a previous crash at the location, Suffolk police said.
SHIRLEY, NY — A Suffolk police cruiser stopped to divert traffic away from a crash was struck by an ambulance in Shirley on Sunday night, a police spokeswoman said.
The marked cruiser had its emergency lights activated at Montauk Highway and Garden Place at around 7:18 p.m., police said, adding that the driver of an ambulance traveling westbound on Montauk Highway tried to turn left onto Garden Place and struck the cruiser on the rear of the driver’s side.
The cruiser sustained minor damage and there were no injuries, police said.
