Suffolk Police Officers Come To Rescue Of Shirley Woman In Labor
Baby Owen was born on his mom's living room floor with the help of four officers, and his dad, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A group of Suffolk officers came to the rescue of a woman in labor inside of her home in Shirley, helping her deliver the child on her living room floor on Saturday morning, police said.
Police said that at about 10:13 a.m., Officer Conor Diemer responded to a 911 call reporting a woman going into labor at her home on Arpage Drive, and when he got there, Rebecca Reyes told him "she felt the baby about to come out."
The officer then laid her down in the living room, and soon after Sgt. Jon-Erik Negron, as well as officers Jadin Rodriguez and Zachary Vormittag, arrived to help in the baby's delivery, police said.

But they officers were not alone.
The baby's father, Juan Maldonado, 46, soon returned home and was able to hold Reyes' head as she delivered the child, according to police.

Reyes, 31, gave birth to a baby boy named Owen at about 10:25 a.m., police said.
Shirley Community Ambulance arrived shortly after Owen made his debut and paramedics cut his umbilical cord before taking mom and baby to Stony Brook University Hospital.
