Teen Seriously Hurt In Shooting On Long Island: Police
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk police say.
MASTIC BEACH, NY — A 17-year-old boy was seriously hurt in a shooting on Thursday evening in Mastic Beach, police said.
It happened during a fight in the backyard of a home on Neptune Avenue at around 7:25 p.m., and the shooter fled the scene, according to police.
The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In the aftermath of the shooting, residents took to social media to express concern as to what happened due to all the police activity in the neighborhood.
Detectives from the 7th Squad in Shirley are investigating.
They are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them at 631-852-8752, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, a confidential police hotline.
