MASTIC BEACH, NY — A Mastic Beach cat is less one of its one of its nine lives this week after being rescued, from nearly drowning in a marsh, by a group of Suffolk police officers.

The officers received a call about a cat howling from a marsh, near Whittier Drive, at around 10:15 p.m. on May 28.

When they arrived, they discovered "Binky" stranded among the water and reeds, so one of the officers grabbed a box, and carefully made his way through the marsh, before safely rescuing "the feline adventurer," police said.
