Westhampton EMS Heroes Recognized by Peconic Bay Medical Center
Quick Thinking by Two EMS Units Saves Lives
Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) has recognized two Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance units for their heroic actions on two separate occasions. Westhampton EMS heroes Jeffrey Alt, Joseph McCaffery, Joe Sanders, Henry Susser, Alexandra Schurek, Julie Stollow, Robert Bancroft and Cynthia Schunk all swiftly took action when called to the respective scenes of their incidents, providing world class care and properly addressing and treating their patient’s needs.
“The quick-thinking heroics of these two EMS units are great examples of high-quality emergency care. We are thrilled to recognize them with this award,” said Dr. Jeffrey Zilberstein, Medical Director of Peconic Bay Medical Center. “On behalf of PBMC and the community, we are so thankful for your teamwork, dedication, and bravery."
Last summer, the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance emergency services helped save the life of a car crash victim by extracting them from a vehicle and reestablishing their airway. And, in another case, they helped save the life of a heart attack victim. “The Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance crew has helped the save the lives of countless community members,” said Jason Groff Northwell CEMS Paramedic Supervisor & PBMC EMS Liaison. “We are honored to thank them for their commitment to serving this community.”
