WFHS Rockettes Dance Their Way To The Top
The team took first place at the Long Island Dance Team Association Competition in mid-February.

The William Floyd High School varsity Rockettes under the guidance of advisors Lisa Taiani and Tiana Necega recently completed a successful season with an impressive win over their opponents at the Long Island Dance Team Association Competition in mid-February! The Rockettes, returning to competition for the first time in more than a decade, kicked and danced their way to the top and a first-place finish and the Innovative Choreography Award.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with this team’s commitment to hard work all year and the result of our return to competition!” said Mrs. Taiani.
The Rockettes’ year began in July with a return to their annual Rockette Summer Camp, in which varsity team members share their dance knowledge, creativity and choreography skills to teach routines to local children between the ages of six and 14. This camp culminates in a performance showcase for family and friends, which is a highlight for the team each year as they have fun encouraging and helping the next generation of dancers learn and grow.

Mrs. Taiani added that the Rockettes were really excited to get back to traditional seasons of performance including at all varsity home football and basketball games, as well as special-event performances at the pep rally and during halftime of the Suffolk County Championship football game at Stony Brook University.
The Rockettes were also recognized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Mastics & Shirley with the “Best Performance” award at the annual Mastics & Shirley Christmas Parade. They look forward to their annual camp this summer and preparing for the next season!
