William Floyd Colonials Baseball Fires Two No-Hitters In One Day
Varsity and junior varsity baseball teams pitched dual no-hitters against Central Islip.

What is better than one no-hitter? How about two no-hitters?! On Monday, May 9, the William Floyd varsity and junior varsity baseball teams pitched dual no-hitters against Central Islip, with Justin Backhaus leading the varsity Colonials in a complete game 16-0 shutout by only allowing two walks in a dominant all-around effort. On the junior varsity side, the Colonials traveled to Central Islip with eighth grader Andrew Winter taking the hill for the Colonials and firing nine strikeouts while only allowing one walk and one hit batter in the 14-0 complete game shutout.

The varsity Colonials are on the verge of clinching a playoff berth with two games left in the season – both against Central Islip. Varsity head coach Keith Kobasiuk said that if the Colonials win these final two games they are in the playoffs. Congratulations to the Colonials on this rare and amazing feat and good luck the rest of the way!
