William Floyd Reaches 'Significant Milestone' Of 95 Percent Graduation Rate: District Officials

MASTIC BEACH, NY — The William Floyd School District has achieved the "significant milestone" of a 95 percent graduation rate for the four-year cohort that graduated in 2026, officials said

The achievement "reflects more than a decade of sustained progress and the district’s continued investment in instruction, innovative course offerings, interventions, student supports, and expanded pathways to graduation," according to officials.

Since 2015-16, William Floyd’s four-year graduation rate for general education students has increased from 80 to 95 percent, officials said. Even "more significantly," the four-year graduation rate for students with disabilities has risen from 46 to 85 percent, "a remarkable" 39-percentage-point increase over that same period, according to officials.

Looking at the district’s longer-term trajectory, the overall four-year graduation rate has increased from 67 percent in 2006-07 to 95 percent in 2025-26, representing a 28-percentage-point increase, officials said.

Superintendent of Schools Kevin Coster said the "results reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, families, teachers, support staff, administrators, and Board of Education."

“A 95 percent graduation rate is an extraordinary achievement, made possible by dedicated K-12 educators," he said. "This is a districtwide accomplishment and effort, and we will continue to work hard to provide amazing opportunities for our students and put them in the best position to succeed.”

The district currently serves around 9,647 students, "representing a diverse and dynamic community," and "provides a broad range of academic, extracurricular, special education, multilingual, social-emotional, and student support services designed to meet the needs of its students and families."

The district also offers a thriving in-house Career and Technical Education program featuring nine academy-style programs, including Automotive Technology, Barbering, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Marine and Motorsports, Medical Assisting, Personal Trainer and Group Fitness, and, new this year, the Mental Health Professional Academy.

The district also features award-winning music and fine arts programs, a strong interscholastic athletics program, robotics, clubs, and numerous other opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop their talents.
