The Floyd Academy recently hosted its mid-year graduation ceremony to celebrate the 17 graduates who have officially completed the requirements to attain their high school diplomas, officially becoming the first members of the Class of 2022. Family, friends, teachers, staff members, Board of Education members and administrators gathered in the high school’s senior cafeteria to recognize the accomplishments of William Floyd’s newest alumni. Mid-year graduates will also have the opportunity to walk with the rest of their senior class at the graduation ceremony in June.

“Graduation affirms that with the right support, and maintaining a sense of determination and focus, you can achieve your goals in life,” said John DeBenedetto, principal, Floyd Academy, to the students in attendance.
Mr. DeBenedetto called up each graduate individually and shared highlights about them and their future plans.

Future plans include attending Fullerton College and studying law/criminal justice, attending St. John’s University for the nursing program, military enlistment (Army), Suffolk County Community College for the veterinary technician program and criminal justice, entering the trades such as automotive, barbering & HVAC, attending Farmingdale State College with the goal of becoming a dental hygienist, attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice, studying data analytics, pursuing real estate, music production and fashion design, entering the medical field, traveling the world and learning world languages and more.
“Seniors, as you leave here today, go forth and challenge yourself,” added Mr. DeBenedetto. “Strive for excellence and demand greatness from yourselves. We are extremely proud of you and are happy to share this moment with you. On behalf of the Floyd Academy and the William Floyd School District, I wish for each of you a life that will be richer and more rewarding than your wildest dreams.”
Congratulations to the 17 mid-year graduates: Jamie Almeida, Hilal Akkaya, Kayla Bass Miller, Marques Bloxon, Siniah Campos, Connor Donnellan, Sheik Doumbia, Tobiahus Harrison, Tyquel Jackson, Gabrielle Labozetta, Kaley Lakotta, Jamal Lewis, Nathan Mills, Johanna Turnil-Marroquin, Taryn Nashe, Joseph Wahl and Destiny Williams.
