Update: October 21, 2021

Congratulations to the No. 1 seed William Floyd girls’ varsity tennis team on their playoff victory over No. 9 Mt. Sinai in a second-round playoff on Wednesday, October 20!

The win improves the Colonials undefeated record this season to 17-0! As the No. 1 seed in Section XI’s East Bracket, William Floyd will host No. 4 Sachem next Tuesday, October 26 at 2 pm. Go Colonials!

The William Floyd High School Colonials girls’ varsity tennis team, led by head coach Dave Pia, was just crowned League and Division champions after concluding a perfect regular season – going 16-0 (14-0 in league play)! They will begin their quest for a Suffolk County title on Wednesday, October 20, as the No. 1 seed after a first-round playoff bye.

It was an outstanding team effort led by consistent play all year. Strong singles play by Adrianna Filippelli, Anabel Van Cott, Lydia Van Cott and Allison Goodyear were instrumental in winning key matches all season. Outstanding and consistent teamwork led to an undefeated trio of doubles teams. First doubles players include Amanda Jones and Hailey O'Connor; along with second doubles players Isabella Saladin and Casey Musselman; and third doubles players Jacky Sutherland and Gianna Martin – all three of whom won every set and match this season. Ariella Morano, Cavelle Simpson and Alyssa Dingman round out the rest of the talented doubles lineup for the Colonials.

Great job, Colonials! Good luck in the team playoffs and individual tournament!
