On Sunday, February 27, Governor Hochul announced that masks will no longer be required for schools effective on Wednesday, March 2. As a result, beginning this Wednesday, masks will not be required for William Floyd students and staff. Please click here for the governor’s full announcement and refer to the below for some additional questions that you may have about this change.

What if I want to continue wearing a mask?
Any student or staff member who would like to continue to wear a mask, may do so. This change makes mask use optional and up to the discretion of the individual including parents/guardians, students or staff members.

Will masks be required on buses?
Masks will no longer be required on buses in New York State effective on Wednesday, March 2. Although the CDC updated its guidance on February 25, the governor’s newly-adopted mask-optional guidelines take effect on March 2.

Will those returning from a five-day isolation after a positive COVID case be required to wear a mask?
Yes, according to the New York State Approach to Isolation and Quarantine, those who tested positive and have already isolated for five days, must continue to wear a mask around others for an additional five days.
