Earlier this school year, William Floyd Middle School nurse Melissa Lofaso-Archangel or Nurse Missy as she is affectionately known, heard that a student being cleared to play sports did not have the proper equipment, so she stepped up in a big way. Nurse Missy put out the word to friends and the result was a very generous donation of 20 pairs of shin guards, six soccer balls and four pairs of cleats, all brand new – for William Floyd Middle School students lacking the proper equipment.

“When Ms. Lofaso-Archangel first told me about coordinating this donation, I can’t say that I was surprised,” said Matthew Sanders, principal, William Floyd Middle School. “Nurse Missy is the type of person that goes above and beyond for our students each day. We are fortunate to have her, and so many other caring adults, working with our students at William Floyd Middle School.”
Now, thanks to Nurse Missy, and the very generous people who donated, students at William Floyd Middle School trying out for soccer for the first time may have access to some new gear!
