The William Floyd United Teachers (WFUT) local action committee headed by WFUT representative Karianne Garfen and William Paca Middle School social worker Alyssa Cabrera, is hosting a shared table event on Saturday, November 13, from 10 am to 1 pm (or while supplies last) at William Paca Middle School at 338 Blanco Drive in Mastic Beach. Food items and toiletries donated by teachers from each school in the district will be available for community members who may need them. Donations are also accepted. The motto is, “Take what you need, give what you can.” Everything is free.
Additionally, Michele Montalbano, an elementary school teacher at Tangier Smith Elementary School and WFUT member, enlisted a small group of elementary school students from across the district who gathered outside the school day to work together to decorate bags for teachers to fill them up with items for this event.

Thank you to the teachers for all of the generous donations! Great job by the WFUT local action committee for helping to fill a critical need for those in need from the community and by the elementary students for their assistance!
