William Floyd Students Make Hometown Proud At NYC Trade Show

Congratulations to these Spa-Tacular students!

MASTIC BEACH, NY — Some enterprising students made their hometown proud in the Big Apple recently.

The William Floyd High School Virtual Enterprise, or VE, firm of “Spa-Tacular,” taught by William Floyd High School business teacher Jacqueline Giacalone, recently received second place for “Best Booth Design” at the International VE Trade Show, held at Pier 92 in New York City.

The “Best Booth Design” award was judged on creativity and presentation, and Spa-Tacular was among the most popular booths at the show, the district said.

“The traffic at the booth was constant and all of the girls worked very hard providing services such as hair curling/straightening, hair color, henna and braiding,” said Giacalone. “These girls have an advantage over other companies because they can actually provide the services.”

All of the girls are enrolled in the high school’s cosmetology program, district officials said.
