Winner In Suffolk County 3rd Legislative District Race
The polls are closed and the results are in.
YAPHANK, NY — Republican Suffolk Legis. James Mazzarella emerged as the apparent winner as he squared off against Democrat and former legislator Kate Browning.
As of 11:35 p.m., Mazzarella garnered 7,525 votes, or 67 percent, of the vote to Browning's 3,708 with all 43 districts reporting, according to preliminary results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.
There were six write-ins and absentee ballots still have to be counted.
