She neglected to provide the kitten with sustenance and veterinary care, police say.

MASTIC, NY — A Mastic Beach woman was charged with animal cruelty on Wednesday, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Detectives with the Suffolk County SPCA charged Janice Rose Mendonca , 59, with cruelty to animals for failure to provide proper sustenance, including a lack of veterinary care, which nearly caused the death of Prince, her 14-week old male kitten, the SPCA said.
