Woman Charged In Connection With Mastic-Shirley Swipes: Police
She was caught after a 911 caller reported her trying to break into vehicles in front of a home on Poospatuck Lane, police say.
MASTIC, NY — A Mastic woman has been arrested in connection with snatching items from vehicles and businesses throughout Mastic and Shirley last month, Suffolk police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a woman trying to break into vehicles in front of a home on Poospatuck Lane on Sunday at around 9 a.m., and it was later determined that she was wanted for other incidents in the area, including swiping $827 worth of nasal spray from Stop & Shop on Montauk Highway in Shirley, on Feb. 13, according to police.
She was also wanted in connection with stealing cash from an unlocked 2005 Toyota on Revilo Drive in Shirley on Friday, as well as cash from an unlocked 2019 BMW on Revilo Drive in Shirley on Friday morning, police said.

She is also believed to have broken a window of a 2011 Hyundai and snatched a wallet on Bullard Street in Mastic on Friday, and swiped food from Handy Pantry on Mastic Road in Mastic, on Saturday morning, according to police.
Residents in the Mastic-Shirley area have been complaining on social media about a woman breaking into or trying to break into cars overnight in recent weeks.

The woman, 38, was charged with five counts of petit larceny and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
She was held at the 5th Precinct in Smithtown for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
