We’ve all heard about the mobile craze – how a growing number of internet users are getting their daily news and info from their smartphone – but what does that mean for your marketing emails? According to Marketing Sherpa, it means get mobile or get lost.
Per a recent survey of marketers across the country, 25% of subscribers read marketing emails on mobile devices – this percentage is higher for consumer subscribers (as opposed to business subscribers), who turn to their devices 27% of the time when reading marketing emails. Despite this significant finding, only 21% of marketers surveyed indicated that their email marketing program currently takes mobile into account, while 60% said that mobile integration was a goal for the next twelve months.
What does this mean for your business? Take advantage of this mobile traffic before you miss out! Make sure all of your emails are mobile optimized (that means all the text in one column, fonts and buttons as big as possible) and equally importantly, make sure your email leads to a mobile-optimized website! If a mobile reader goes to a site that’s impossible to read and navigate on a smartphone, they won’t be of any more use to you than if they hadn’t clicked at all! And lastly, get a piece of that traffic now, before your competitors do. With marketers still behind the mobile trend, you’ll stand out from the competition if you’re the only mobile-friendly business in town.
