Djembe in the New Millennium

Brooklyn, N.Y.--On Saturday, July 13 at 7:00PM  Asase Yaa Entertainment Group will present the best African drumming and dancing New York City has to offer at its 4th annual dance and drum showcase, “Djembe in the New Millennium – A New York Drum and Dance Show,” at  Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts located at 1 University Plaza on Flatbush Avenue between DeKalb and Willoughby Avenues in Downtown, Brooklyn. Featuring the City’s most ignited and eclectic African drum and dance works, the evening will present dynamic African Diasporic performances by Asase Yaa African American Dance Theatre and Ase Dance Theater Collective who are keeping the rich cultural history of African drum and dance alive. “Our goal is to celebrate this next generation of African drum and dance makers. Through collaboration, we will collectively deliver the roots, values and rich aesthetics of Africa Diasporic and African-American cultures to larger audiences throughout New York City,” said Kofi Osei Williams, Executive Director of Asase Yaa Entertainment Group, LLC.
