Healthcare Reform Top of Mind for Small Business Owners

SurePayroll shares learnings from their September 2013 Small Business Scorecard

Our friends at SurePayroll, a leading provider of online payroll services for small businesses, have released their September 2013 Small Business Scorecard, a comprehensive summary of nationwide trends in small business hiring and salaries.

Healthcare reform is top of mind for small business owners not only because of the impact it will have on their current business, but also because of the ways it can affect their hiring practices. 43% of small business owners say they need more clarity on the Affordable Care Act before they will feel comfortable hiring.

According to the scorecard, "Nationwide hiring was flat in September for small businesses...and the average paycheck was down. It seems small business owners are being cautious with their spending until some of the uncertainty around health care is resolved."
