Topsfield American Legion BBQ Benefits Windrush Farm

Commander of the post, Dave Commeau, Bob Shamroth, Bill Quinn present Mandy Hogan with $1,000 from their Southern BBQ benefit.

Nothing says fun like Southern BBQ and a Bluegrass band. Especially when it benefits the work of two nonprofit organizations.

The event was the brainchild of the Topsfield American Legion – Post 225. Led by the commander of the post, Dave Commeau, Bob Shamroth, Bill Quinn, Paul Grillo and Al Didonato, the group hosted a ribs or chicken dinner with entertainment by the bluegrass group, E.C. & The Moonshiners on Saturday, August 9th.

Proceeds were split from between Honor Flight and Windrush Farm’s Veteran’s program, Horsemanship for Heroes.

Windrush Farm’s Horsemanship for Heroes is a program that helps returning veterans suffering from emotional or physical disabilities due to combat through working with horses.

“We are grateful to the members at the Topsfield American Legion for their generosity,” says Mandy Hogan, Windrush Farm executive director. “Our clients only pay a quarter of the actual cost of this unique therapy so it’s thanks to caring people like the crew at the Legion that we are able to continue to offer our services.”
