2 Men Armed W/ Gun Steal Money & Checks From Suffolk Woman: Police

The men confronted the woman outside her home and displayed a gun before grabbing her, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Two men with a gun stole money and checks from a Smithtown woman on Tuesday morning after attacking her, Suffolk police said.

A woman was standing in her driveway at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Grandview Lane when two men, both wearing ski masks, approached her and displayed a gun, police said. While speaking to the woman in Spanish, they motioned for her to go into the home, police said.

The woman, who does not speak Spanish, tried to run from the men who then grabbed her and engaged in a struggle with her, police said. The woman was able to free herself and run toward the street, police said. The men stole money and checks from the woman’s vehicle and fled, police said.

The woman was treated by ambulance personnel near her home.
