21-Year-Old Smithtown Man Killed In Crash Between Motorcycle, Car

Another motorcyclist involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived.

SELDEN, NY – A 21-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a car in Suffolk County Sunday afternoon, police said. The crash also involved a second motorcyclist who fled the scene before arrived.

According to police, Jared Tepperman, of Smithtown, was riding a 2001 Honda motorcycle north on Boyle Road when his motorcycle struck a 2010 Honda Accord, which was also traveling northbound, at the intersection of Hemlock Street at about 4:10 p.m.

Tepperman was transported by a Selden Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Honda, Stacey Rios, 44, and her passenger, Daniel Loria, 45, both of Selden, were transported to Stony Brook for treatment of minor injuries.

Detectives are seeking the identity of another motorcyclist who fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
