SMITHTOWN, NY — A toy drive was organized to benefit children who are undergoing medical care at Stony Brook Children's Hospital.

The 2nd Annual Holiday Toy Drive, organized by State Sen. Mario Mattera, is running now through Dec. 21. Mattera and his staff are accepting new and unwrapped toys and gift cards for children ages 2 through 16 at their office at 180 E. Main St., Suite 210, Smithtown.

All residents who wish to participate were invited to bring donations to the office during regular business hours. Donors were asked to not bring any toy guns or knives out of respect for the children.

“The holidays are so special to our families and our community and it is so important that everyone is able to share a smile this season," Mattera said. "This year, as many struggle with costs of living and inflation, I invite all of our residents to join me to make a difference and to help to make the holidays a little happier for all. We hope that everyone who is able will bring a toy or gift card to enjoy the gift of giving. And we thank everyone who donates.”
