3-Year-Old Hospitalized After Accidental Shooting in Smithtown Home
Incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police say.

Police responded to a 911 call of a possible discharge of a firearm on Devon Lane in Smithtown shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Newsday has reported that the victim was a 3-year-old boy, who suffered graze wounds to his stomach and arm. The boy’s injuries are not life-threatening, police told Newsday.
The boy was conscious and crying while being transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, according to a WABC 7 report. Police told Patch the boy was transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. He is currently listed in stable condition.
