911 Calls Pour In After Music From 8 Concert Speakers Rocks Smithtown Area: Police

Police say 8 concert-level speakers were found connected to a vehicle battery broadcasting loud music in a Hauppauge parking lot.

HAUPPAGE, NY — A man was cited for violating a local noise ordinance after blasting amplified music from multiple concert-level speakers in a Hauppauge parking lot Tuesday night, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said officers responded to the parking lot at 335 Kennedy Drive at around 9 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls reporting loud music that could be heard in both Smithtown and Hauppauge.

When officers arrived, they discovered eight concert-level speakers connected to the battery of a vehicle broadcasting amplified music in violation of the Town of Smithtown’s noise restrictions, police said.

Jose Santana, 29, of Bay Shore, an employee of a nearby business in the industrial area, was cited by Town of Smithtown Public Safety officers for the violation, police said.

The speakers were seized by police, according to authorities.
