3. TRAVEL ADVISORY: Overnight Lane Closures on State Route 25 in Town of Smithtown and Village of the Branch, Suffolk County (longisland.com) — Overnight lane closures are coming to Jericho Turnpike/Main Street in Smithtown, with up to two lanes shut in each direction between Kings Park Road and Route 111 on weeknights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Sept. 14. The two‑month pavement renewal project will always keep at least one lane open each way, but drivers should expect delays and watch roadside signs for changing details.
4. No increase in general fund taxes in 2027, Romaine says in State of the County address (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine says his proposed 2027 budget will hold general fund property taxes flat while continuing sewer expansion that already includes work in Smithtown.
