Man Took Photos Of Stranger In Smith Haven Mall Bathroom Stall: Police

A mall security guard called the police after the victim confronted the man outside the bathroom, authorities said.

LAKE GROVE, NY — An 18-year-old man was arrested after police said he took photos of another man inside a bathroom stall at Smith Haven Mall on Tuesday afternoon.

Antonio Masso, of Mastic Beach, was in a bathroom stall at about 2:30 p.m. when he reached over and took photos of a 42-year-old man using the adjacent stall, Suffolk County police said.

The man noticed the phone and confronted Masso outside the bathroom, police said. A mall security guard then called police.

Masso was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony, police said. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Police are asking anyone who believes they may also have been a victim of Masso to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
