Smithtown East Celebrates 1st Homecoming Game Under The Lights

Smithtown East marked its first homecoming game under the lights with a carnival, football, performances and the crowning of royalty.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown High School East celebrated homecoming Sept. 25 with a carnival, football, halftime performances and the crowning of its 2026 homecoming royalty.

The celebration also marked the school's first homecoming football game played under the lights at Schroeder Field, according to the Smithtown Central School District.

Festivities began before kickoff with a carnival inside the High School East gymnasium. Co-curricular clubs hosted games, activities, and other stations organized and run by students, while families and community members gathered for live music and pregame fun.

As kickoff approached, the celebration moved outside, where Smithtown East faced the Huntington Blue Devils. Students, families, alumni and other community members packed the stands for the Friday night matchup.

During halftime, the Whisperettes kickline team performed before Isabella Weidtman was crowned homecoming queen and Anthony Gazzano was named homecoming king.

Huntington defeated Smithtown East 40-7, but the night remained a celebration of school spirit and community for the Bulls.
