Smithtown East Memorial Game Raises Nearly $3K In Valerie Kratochvil’s Honor

The annual memorial game honors former Smithtown East athlete Valerie Kratochvil and supports a scholarship in her name.

SMITHTOWN, NY — The Smithtown High School East field hockey team hosted its third annual Valerie Kratochvil Memorial Scholarship game on Sept. 28, raising nearly $3,000 for a scholarship established in her memory.

Kratochvil was an avid runner and a valued member of Smithtown East's field hockey and track teams.

Her parents, Margaret Kratochvil and Ken Kratochvil, attended the memorial game and received a bouquet of flowers from the team.

"Valerie was beautiful inside and out. She was compassionate, caring, intelligent, funny and loving — the best friend that anyone could ever have," Margaret Kratochvil said.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the field hockey memorial scholarship created in Valerie's name.

Valerie Kratochvil, a former Smithtown High School East field hockey and track athlete, is remembered through an annual memorial scholarship game held in her honor.
