Bridget Tartaglia-Vales to Receive Spirit of Youth Sports Award
Prominent Attorney and CYO Basketball Coach Among Those Honored at Riverhead Banquet
Riverhead, NY, October 28, 2019 – Bridget Tartaglia-Vales, Partner at St. James law firm Jakubowski, Robertson, Maffei, Goldsmith & Tartaglia, LLP, has been named a recipient of the 2019 WVI Dolphin Foundation’s Spirit of Youth Sports Award. Ms. Tartaglia-Vales has been cited for her tireless efforts as a coach of boys basketball in the CYO program at Infant Jesus Church in Port Jefferson; an assignment she has taken on the past eight years.
The WVI Dolphin Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization engaged in a “Sports for Good” initiative, sought nominees from all corners of the industry and from a wide variety of sports in its effort to showcase adults who are modeling positive behavior and introducing practices in the best interest of youth sports families.The Long Island based honorees have each demonstrated an ongoing commitment to use sports to improve their communities and to enrich the lives of boys and girls in their charge.
“Many of those we are honoring at our ceremony, have dedicated their professional lives to youth sports,” said Jeremiah Schnee, founder and co-chair of the WVI Dolphin Foundation. “Our awards committee immediately singled out Bridget who we felt represents the finest in volunteerism. She balances a very demanding and successful career and family life with her invaluable service to the community as a basketball coach. This award is well-deserved.”

A former Division 1 basketball player herself, Ms. Tartaglia-Vales earned her J.D. from Touro College. The longtime Mount Sinai resident, clerked at her current firm while still in law school, joined the firm upon graduation emphasizing Matrimonial and Family Law, and eventually earned a name partnership. In addition to coaching multiple basketball teams, she has also volunteered her time as a fundraiser for Mount Sinai Youth Soccer.
The awards, will be handed out November 21st at a banquet hosted by Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine and held at Residence Inn Long Island – East End. The 2019 Spirit of Youth Sports Awards gala will include a cocktail reception, dinner, awards ceremony, celebrity keynote, and auction. Proceeds of the event will benefit the WVI Dolphin Foundation’s Sports for Good program. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased through Event Brite or at www.wvievents.com.
