Through great conversation about and improvisers demonstrating the concepts through performing games and exercises that are as hilarious as they are informative, you can experience the special magic that improv can bring to real life partnerships and groups at home and work.

Host Jude Treder-Wolff is a creative arts therapist, clinical social worker, improviser and storyteller, who writes and teaches about applications of the arts to real life personal and professional struggles and growth for the past 40 years. She writes about improv, storytelling and creativity for real life growth and healing on Substack.

Panelists:

Elizabeth Bosjza, MFA is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. She serves as the curriculum lead for the Alda Healthcare Experience. In addition to designing science communication curricula and leading Alda Center programs, she also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Communication where she teaches science communication graduate courses and is responsible for supporting students in the Advanced Graduate Certificate program.

Lydia Franco-Hodges is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, where she designs and facilitators professional development programs that blend applied improvisational theatre with communication strategies. In addition to science communication programs, she developed and delivered the Alda Center's Women in STEM Leadership Program.Prior to joining the Alda Center, Lydia taught acting at Stonybrook University.

Mary Theresa Archbold partners with her husband Pat Shay teaching improv skills to parents and families, PTAs and community groups. She is an award winning NYC based performer who has appeared on Television (Law & Order: SVU, Bull) and Broadway and off-Broadway stage -most recently in the 2018 Pulitzer Prize winning play Cost of Living and solo performer who is a prolific creator blending her passions in a style uniquely her own: dance/comedy. She has been featured on The Moth and This American Life.

Pat Shay spent ten years in Chicago, studying with Del Close, Charna Halpern, Mick Napier, and Ali Farahnakian, and performing, teaching, and coaching: including in touring casts for IO & the Second City. Along the way, he got to play leads in plays like Hamlet and Taming of the Shrew; and singing versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Pa Ingalls. With his wife, Mary Theresa Archbold, he’s written Pat & Mary Save Their Marriage and Jazz Hand, which has won awards and great reviews across the country – including making the final four of the NBC/Universal Shortcuts Festival. Pat has played Brian in both Off-Broadway runs of Flanagan’s Wake. He has been seen nationwide in commercials for Hardware and Insurance, and has bobsledded through the audience of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
