Car Show To Support Veterans, Service Dogs At Paws Of War In Nesconset

The May 31 event will feature classic cars, military displays, music, raffles, food trucks and family-friendly activities, organizers say.

NESCONSET, NY — A car show in Nesconset will bring together classic vehicles, veterans, first responders, families and dog lovers while raising money for Paws of War’s programs.

Paws of War will host its 2026 Car Show on Sunday at the organization’s Nesconset headquarters. The dog-friendly event is free for spectators and their four-legged companions, organizers said.

The event is being held as part of the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th birthday and will support Paws of War’s mission of “Helping Both Ends of the Leash.”

The car show will feature vintage, classic and custom vehicles, military displays, live music, raffles, food trucks and family-friendly activities. Proceeds will help provide training for service and support dogs for disabled veterans and first responders coping with PTSD, traumatic injuries and other service-related challenges, according to Paws of War.

Paws of War is a Long Island-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders while rescuing and training animals in need. The organization is known nationally for bringing rescued dogs and cats home from war zones, providing service dogs to veterans and carrying out emergency animal rescue missions in the United States and overseas.

The event will also include car judging and an awards program hosted by the Fabulous 50’s and 60’s Nostalgia Car Club. Organizers said they expect hundreds of participants and spectators throughout the day.

“This event is about much more than cars. It is about honoring the people who have defended and protected our communities while recognizing the incredible role service dogs play in helping veterans and first responders heal,” said Ray Meyer, Paws of War volunteer and event organizer. “The car community has really embraced this mission, and as America celebrates its 250th birthday, people are coming together to celebrate our country, enjoy an incredible display of vehicles, and support programs that truly change lives.”
