Carnival Worker Accused Of Inappropriately Touching Child: Police

The 50-year-old was charged after allegedly inappropriately touching a 7-year-old during a carnival ride, police say.

LAKE GROVE, NY - The operator of a carousel ride is accused of inappropriately touching a child on a ride at a mall in Lake Grove on Wednesday, according to Suffolk Police.

A 7-year-old girl was riding on the carousel at the Dreamland Amusements carnival at the Smith Haven Mall at 7 p.m. when she was allegedly inappropriately touched by the operator, 50-year-old Louis Shelton, police said.

Detectives arrested Shelton, of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and charged him with first degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of child.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
