Dogwood Elementary Of Smithtown Raises Money For Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation
The school raised $414 by selling AVM Awareness bracelets. An AVM is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Dogwood Elementary School went "Pink For Paige" on Tuesday in honor of Paige Elizabeth Keely, a first grader at St. James Elementary School who died in 2018 at the age of 6 from an undiagnosed brain arteriovenous malformation, the Smithtown School District announced.
Dogwood raised $414 by selling AVM awareness bracelets, Principal Renee Carpenter said.
The money raised will be donated to the Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation. October is AVM Awareness month.

An AVM is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels that causes problems with the connections between arteries and veins, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. AVMs most often occur in the spinal cord and in the brain but can develop elsewhere in the body.
