Drunken Woman Crashed Into Cop Car In Suffolk: Police
The officer suffered injuries after his car was rear-ended, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — A woman was arrested after she drove while drunk and crashed into the back of a cop car on Saturday in Smithtown, Suffolk police said.
A Fourth Precinct Police officer was in his police vehicle parked on Route 25A at Oakside Road when Katelyn Lynch, 25, of Smithtown, driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue, struck the rear of his cruiser around 12:30 a.m., police said.
The officer was in his police vehicle waiting for a tow truck to respond following an unrelated crash on Route 25A that also involved a driver who was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.
Lynch was charged with DWI and transported to the hospital where she was treated and released, police said.

She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. Her arraignment was slated for Sunday, March 24.
