Drunken Wrong-Way Driver Stole Beer In Suffolk: Police
The man drove the wrong way and then stole two cases of beer from a gas station, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — A man was charged with DWI after he drove the wrong way and then stole beer from a Smithtown gas station on Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.
Lance Broussand, 37, of Hauppauge, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra eastbound in the westbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Highway, police said. He then stopped at Speedway, at 522 Smithtown Bypass, where he stole two cases of beer, at 2:30 a.m., police said. Broussand was arrested in the parking lot by Fourth Precinct officers when he left the store, police said.
Broussand was charged with driving while intoxicated and petty larceny.

He was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning at First District Court in Central Islip.
