Duo Robbed 2 Pharmacies, Attempted To Rob Third, Within 30 Minutes: Police

The Ronkonkoma man and homeless woman were arrested on Tuesday night.

SMITHTOWN, NY - A Ronkonkoma man and a homeless woman were arrested for robbing two pharmacies and attempting to rob a third in Suffolk County within 30 minutes of each other, according to Suffolk County Police.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a robbery at CVS on 111 Terry Road in Smithtown at 7:40 p.m.

The officers apprehended and arrested 28-year-old John Giunta and 29-year-old Kristi Larsen as they tried to flee the scene, police said.

An investigation found that the duo were also responsible for the attempted robbery of Duane Reade on 1320 Stony Brook Road in Stony Brook at 7:10 p.m. and the robbery of Walgreens on 712 Smithtown Bypass in Smithtown at 7:30 p.m., police said.

Both were charged with two counts of second degree robbery and one count of second degree attempted robbery. Larsen was also charged with an outstanding warrant and for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Giunta and Larsen are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
