'Family History Day' Held At Smithtown's Mt. Pleasant Elementary

Students displayed their research, heirlooms, accomplishments and important documents about their family.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Third graders at Mt. Pleasant Elementary recently learned about their own family's culture and traditions during their social studies unit, the Smithtown School District announced.

The students discussed how traditions are handed down from their family, and their culture comes from ancestors. As part of this lesson, students had fun learning about their own ancestors’ traditions, culture, and accomplishments with their family, and then shared what they learned during Family History Day at MTP.
