Fire Destroys Smithtown Home, Resident Injured
Seven fire departments help to extinguish blaze Sunday afternoon.

A Smithtown home was completely destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon and a resident suffered burn injuries, according to The Suburban Fire Marshal website.
When the Smithtown Fire Department arrived on the scene at 4 Welsley Lane shortly before 4 p.m., there was already heavy fire throughout the home and a vehicle burning in the driveway, according to the report.

The Hauppauge, Nesconset, Kings Park, Commack, Saint James and Nissequogue fire departments helped fight the blaze, which was brought under control within 90 minutes.
A home at the same location was destroyed in a fire in 2006, according to The Suburban Fire Marshal.

The injured resident was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in unknown condition.
