Firework Explosion Seriously Injures LI Man: Police: Police
The man was lighting a firework at Callahan's Beach when it exploded and struck him in the face, police said.
FORT SALONGA, NY — A man was seriously injured while lighting a firework during a Fourth of July celebration at Callahan’s Beach in Fort Salonga, Suffolk police said.
Jerry DiMucci, 45, was lighting a firework at the beach at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday when it exploded and struck him in the face, police said.
DiMucci was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the fireworks-related incident.
