Five Family Members Killed in Crash on Southern State

Three children among those killed Saturday night, police say.

Five people heading back home to Brooklyn after attending a family gathering on Long Island were killed in a fiery crash on the Southern State Parkway in North Babylon Saturday night, police said.

Three children were among those killed in the accident that occurred on the westbound side of the parkway just east of exit 38 shortly before 11 p.m.

According to police, Myriam Lebrun, of Brooklyn, was driving a 1998 Honda Accord when the vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a tree and then burst into flames.

All five people in the car died in the crash–Lebrun, 37, Moise Yolande, 68, Marcus Jeanty, 14, Marcel Jeanty, 9 and Kayla Jeanty, 8.

Police have not determined what caused the crash and the investigation is continuing.
